What is life coaching?
Life coaching is a future-focused practice with the aim of helping clients determine and achieve personal goals. Coaching developed out of the counseling field to give people a safe space and time to (a) explore who they are and evaluate/recognize their strengths, values and passions; (b) develop and move towards major goals in their lives; and (c) learn ways to better honor themselves in their daily lives, no matter their circumstances.
What is Holistic health?
Holistic health is a concept in medical and other practices upholding that all aspects of people’s needs – psychological, physical, spiritual, and social – should be taken into account and seen as a whole. “Holistic” means that health should be considered beyond its physical manifestations in the body.
What does “transformational coaching” mean?
Transformational Coaching gives you the power to manage the changes in your life and in business from the inside out. The transformational process uses research from positive psychology and neuroscience to train individuals in how to use their “positive emotional neurological pathway” to better access critical thinking and decision making abilities “housed” in the prefrontal cortex. How can coaching help me manage a long-term illness or disorder diagnosis?
Receiving a major medical diagnosis of any kind can be life-altering for the patient and for the patient’s family, friends and colleagues. Transformational Life Coaching can help all parties involved to adjust functionally and emotionally to those life changes in an empowering way so that they do not end up defining themselves and their lives with the diagnosis. How can coaching help me as a caregiver?
Coaching offers support, understanding, compassionate listening, and tools to both cope and flourish even under challenging conditions. Caregivers often suffer a painful emotional burden on top the physical burden of caregiving.
Can coaching be effective over the phone or Skype?
Yes. Because so much of coaching consists of a compassionate dialogue, coaching is very effective over the phone and through Skype. We like to meet in person when it’s possible, but when it is not our clients are able to make progress just as easily through coaching calls.
Can I bring my spouse/significant other/child to a session for help?
Yes. Bringing others to your coaching session(s) can be arranged. The need to do so will be determined on a case by case basis and may incur additional fees.

How many sessions do I need?
Most people find that they can make significant progress and changes within 10-15 sessions, over 3-6 months. Ideally, within about 15 sessions, a person can successfully establish (3) empowered goals and at least begin completion on all three of them. Often people prefer to continue some coaching, mainly on an “as needed” basis. Average time spent with each client is 6 – 12 months.
Is coaching the same thing as counseling?
NO. Counselors are licensed mental health professionals or psychologists who work under basic psychology principles that tend to look backwards at the root of current problems (whether behavioral or otherwise) and is used to assess and “treat” present conditions. Counselors are also licensed and regulated state to state. Coaching works from the present towards the future and takes as an underlying “given” that the client is (a) mentally stable and functional (and sometimes also in counseling for treatment, especially those clients with diagnosed mental disorders or addiction issues). Coaching, as practiced by CLC, believes the client can both set appropriate goals and complete them in a timely manner, with motivational assistance and teaching from the coach. Coaching refers to the activity of a coach in developing the abilities of coachees or clients. Coaching tends to focus on the achievement by coachees of goal(s) or specific skill(s). Methodologies for coaching are positioned away from the directive or the facilitative, and rest on accompanying clients within a dialogue that will allow emerging patterns and solutions to surface. Coaching lies out of the scale between mentoring and training on one end, and psychotherapy and counseling at the other.
